Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 15, 2026

WordNote ("we", "our", or "us") is a vocabulary-learning tool built for English learners. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We keep things simple because we have no interest in anything beyond helping you learn.

1. What we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We store your email as your unique identifier and display your name inside the app. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Vocabulary data

We store the words and phrases you save, including the source sentence or context you captured them from, AI-generated explanations, your review history, and any topic tags you create. This is the core data that makes the app work.

Usage data

We may log basic technical information such as request timestamps and error logs to keep the service running reliably. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

2. How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the WordNote service
  • To authenticate you and keep your vocabulary notebook secure
  • To schedule spaced-repetition reviews based on your learning history
  • To generate AI-powered word explanations using the context you provide

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.

3. The browser extension

The WordNote Chrome extension captures words and their surrounding context from pages you actively choose to save from. It does not read or transmit your browsing history, passwords, form data, or any other page content beyond what you explicitly save.

The extension uses Google OAuth to identify you and sends saved words to the WordNote backend over HTTPS. No data is stored locally in the extension beyond your authentication token.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate WordNote:

  • Google OAuth — for sign-in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Railway — our backend hosting provider. Your data is stored on Railway's infrastructure.
  • AI providers — word explanation requests are sent to an AI API. Only the word and its captured context are sent; no personally identifying information is included in these requests.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at sonha2002.12@gmail.com. We will delete your data within 30 days.

6. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 tokens. We do not store passwords. We take reasonable measures to protect your data but no system is completely immune to risk — please use a strong Google account password and enable two-factor authentication on your Google account.

7. Children's privacy

WordNote is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of WordNote after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
